Finally Get Organized! Jan 3rd-9th 2016 : My Progress

+DearMYRTLE's first checklist was posted this week.  I am so excited to get started with this organization project!  To prepare I cleaned my office {which is also my crafting space} and did a little bit of organizing.  I hate the color of my office but painting seems like such a pain.  It use to be my son’s room but when he outgrew the color he moved to the other bedroom and redid it for him.  This then became my office and the color is awful!  Some day it will get painted.
  1. Make piles.  I have three that include papers to be filed / scanned, a pile of research to do, and photos.   Included in the list was to make a pile of books but I don’t have many and they are neatly organized.  Also, a pile for letters or email and fortunately for me that is one thing I am caught up on.IMG_20160108_184746
  2. Office supplies.  I bought some more sticky notes {I can never have too many of them} and some labels for my file folders.
  3. Set up your work area.  I cleaned and rearranged my desk space to make more room and moved my crafting table closer to my computer area {don’t worry I will just craft on the dining room table.}  I am considering a third monitor.  I love having two and I usually use my Ipad if I need more space but another monitor would be amazing! {I hope my sweet loving husband is reading this!}IMG_20160108_180920
  4. A place for computer problem notes.  I will be using Evernote.
  5. A place for genealogy challenges notes.  I will be using Evernote.
While working on this project I realized that most of my genealogy is digital so I may have to apply this to my digital files as well.  I know I have one big folder on my computer with genealogy information in it that needs some major attention.

How are you doing on your checklist??

Stitching Update…Lots of pics

LHN Family Sampler (excuse my crooked house…not sure why it looks like that) American Flag Quilt Sampler by Rosewood Manor.  I love stitching on this; I did however run out of the Brethren Blue.  I decided to put this down for a little while and have picked up the family sampler again. A close up! HAED Natures Mourning.  I have not worked on this in a while.  I plan to stitch on LHN Family Sampler until Friday and then work on this next. Last but not least is a little freebie that I did before Christmas.

How I Use Evernote for My Genealogy.

NOTE: 2 Feb 2014 -- Link updated to shared notebook ______________________________________________________________________ Today I did a Google+ hangout on air about  Evernote for Genealogy .   Once I watched the video I saw that I was not a very good cameraman! Hopefully this will clear up any questions you may have. How I use Evernote for my genealogy. I use Evernote to store everything including my genealogy research. You want to use Evernote in a way that makes sense to you.  Tags, notebooks, no tags or no notebooks; do whatever works the best for you. Notebooks  (the  blue  box) Notebooks are sorted alphabetically so if there are notebooks you want at the top of your list you can use ! or @ or ~ in front of your notebook title.  In my image, for example, I have my INBOX notebook with an ! in front to keep this notebook at the top of the list.  I use a ~ to keep my GENEALOGY notebook stacks together.  I have an ARCHIVE notebook and in front of
